Overview of class

Welcome to Adventurer 1 class. We are a mixed year 1 and year 2 class. Stevie is the class teacher. Lauren T is the TA. Danielle and Kerry are the ISAs.                  

Adventurer 1 Staff

Autumn 1:

In English, we have been reading the stories: It’s okay to be different by Todd Parr; The things I love about school by Trace Moroney and We’re different We’re the same by Bobbi Kates. We have enjoyed listing our favourite things; identifying and writing our names and using words to describe ourselves and our likes.

This term, In Maths, we will be focusing on Matching, Sorting and Comparing. We will focus on why things are the same or different, various ways of sorting objects, photos and pictures. We will use a variety of resources to help underpin this learning.

Our Topic ‘Autumn explorers’ - is very exciting. We have looked at animals that begin to hibernate and made some beautiful artwork of those animals. We have had lots of autumn explorations outside where we have been noticing the changes in the weather and nature. We collected lots of autumn leaves to make a picture. We set up a ‘hedgehog vet clinic’ and role – played taking care of the hedgehogs.

In music, Karolina has been continuing our autumn theme: making a beautiful soup and singing as we added ingredients. We have made shakers – adding various natural resources and listening to the sound as it changes.

Every Monday, we take part in rebound therapy with Jess and move and groove with Jo and Helen and Attention autism with Stevie. 

On Wednesdays, we are enjoying Forest school with Stacey. We have been making bubbles; using berries to paint with and exploring outdoor activities. We have also loved exploring our outdoor classroom areas.

On Fridays, we enjoy cooking - focusing on ‘all about me’ and ‘autumn’.

Autumn 2:

Next half term our Topic is ‘Celebrations and VIPs’

Reminders:

• Forest schools are on a Wednesday, so please come into school in ‘mucky clothes’ with a named change of clothes.
• Please ensure your child has a spare change of clothes in their bags.
• PE is on Wednesdays
• Library books will be changed every week, please ensure they are in your child’s bag.
• Please send home/school diaries, reading books and reading records back in every day. We try to ensure reading books are changed once a week.
• Please label ALL of your child’s belongings.
