Spring 2:

Discoverer 2 have had a lovely spring half term, we have been learning about Iron Age in Topic and forces in Science. We have carried out many scientific experiments testing out the effect gravity has on air resistance, how different surfaces effect friction and how density effects buoyancy. We really enjoyed going to battle with Adventurer 5 and creating our own weapons to prepare for the battle. The Iron Age roundhouses the children made are absolutely amazing!

In maths we have been learning about multiplication and division facts. We learnt how to calculate mathematical statements for multiplication and division. We learnt that multiplication of two numbers can be done in any order (commutative) and division of one number by another cannot.

During English we were looked at fairy tales from around the world, the children enjoyed learning about other countries traditions. We looked at using the past and present tense in our writing and created a diary entry based on the Run-Away Pancake. The children also learnt spelling rules for the suffix ‘er’ and ‘est’.

Discoverer 2 have also enjoyed a parental engagement lunch where the Easter Bunny paid a special visit.

Summer 1:

Discoverers Summer term topic is Anglo Saxons. In Science we are learning all about plant life cycles.
