Welcome to Explorer 5. We are a Key Stage 1 class. Vicky is our class teacher. Julie is the TA. Sophie and Emma are the ISAs.
Spring 1:
This half term we have explored the story ‘Ten Minutes till Bedtime:Little Dragon. We have enjoyed exploring many activities including painting, printing, sensory materials, building, role play, sensory playdough and small world activities.
In maths our focus has been measure focusing on ‘big and small’, ‘full and empty’ and ‘heavy and light’. The children have explored may different activities including using physical objects, pictorial representations and water play.
In phonics have been looking at set 1 sounds focusing on letters m,a,s,d,t and working towards individual targets. The children have also been working hard on using PECS and communication/ALD boards.
On Monday’s the children have been enjoying Learning Outside the Classroom exploring the outdoor areas as well developing gross motor skills on balancing equipment. Please continue to ensure their waterproofs, wellies and change are clothes are in school on Monday.
We continue to have weekly music sessions with Karolina and have enjoyed engaging with the parachute and movement songs.
All children have had weekly rebound therapy or OT sessions to support physical development and self-regulation.
Spring 2:
The topic for this term is all about ‘who puts the colours in the rainbow’ and in maths we will focus on ‘number’

Monday - Forest school, if your child is wearing their Forest school kit to school in a morning please ensure they have a spare coat for lunch and break. Thursday- PE
