Overview of class

Welcome to Explorer 1. We are a mixed Early Years/ Year One class. Our Teachers are Jodi (Mon - Wed) and Michelle (Wed - Fri). Our Teaching assistant is Debbie. Natalie, Cheryl and Siobhan are our ISAs.

Spring 2:

This half term we have explored the Topic ‘Let’s Go Travelling’. We have enjoyed exploring many activities including reading the story ‘We all Go Travelling by’, painting, printing, sensory materials, vehicle toys indoors and outdoors, role play, sensory playdough, small world activities and in cooking we have made car themed crackers and enjoyed sampling Chinese food for Chinese New Year.

Explorer 1 have also enjoyed lots of craft activities at Learning Outside The Classroom, for Chinese New Year, St. Patrick’s Day and transport activities, exploring the outdoor Forest school area when weather permitted.

In maths we have been looking at ‘more and less’ and ‘number’. The children have explored may different activities including using physical objects, pictorial representations, exploring small world activities and roleplay.

In phonics we are looking set 1 sounds focusing on letters m,a,s,d,t and working towards individual targets. The children are also working hard on using PECS and communication/ALD boards.

Summer 1:

Our topic is ‘Animal A - Z’.

Reminders:

Please remember to label all of your child’s belongings.

P.E is on Monday mornings, please come into school in PE clothes.

Learning Outside the Classroom is on Tuesday morning, please come into school in clothes suitable for mucky play, puddle suit and wellies with a labelled change of clean clothes, including socks.

Library books will be changed weekly, please bring them in on a Wednesday so they can be changed.
