Overview of class

Welcome to Explorer 1. We are a mixed Early Years/ Year One class. Our Teacher is Michelle (Mon - Thurs) and Jo (Fri). Our Teaching assistant is Sharon. Julie, Jackie and Cheryl are our ISAs.

Autumn 2:

This half term we have been looking at different celebrations and festivities.

The children made paint splat fireworks and yummy chocolate sparklers during our Bonfire night topic.

They had an opportunity to taste Indian food during our Diwali activities and enjoyed exploring colourful activities including rice and sand to make Rangoli patterns.

Birthdays and Snow and Ice gave us opportunities to enjoy a ‘cake smash’ and a chance to explore fake snow and animals in ice.

We shared a wonderful trip to Winter Wonderland with our carers and teachers and enjoyed snow play, a Christmas show and got to meet some furry animals.

Alongside this we have visited Kids Rule Café and Softplay where we have loved climbing, sliding, running and generally having a fantastic time.

Our Christmas celebrations have included lots of glitter, painting and sensory experiences. We have also been given an opportunity to go jumping in a giant snowglobe and taste a traditional Christmas dinner…yummy.

We have worked hard during our maths and phonics lessons and continue to practice our communication skills daily.
